Intro To Advanced Workshop and Test
Cost: $25
Length 90 minutes

Advanced pole work requires endurance, skill and of course more strength than basic/intermediate.

We need to make certain all students are ready to move up to avoid injuries and disappointment. It's also unfair to class mates if a student cannot keep up with the rest of the group. Therefore we require that all students who wish to move into the advanced program must meet minimum requirements before they can move up.

What will you be tested on:
Click the links in pink for pictures of moves

  1. Fireman spin in perfect form with pole at knees - not thighs - body away from pole. Toes pointed and shoulders over hips.
    At least one full rotation.
  2. One full bracket spin - body away from pole with hands in opposite directions.
    At least one full rotation.
Ex: Choice of Boomerang  or carousel
  3. Half bracket spin - body away from pole with both hands thumbs up/baseball grips
    Ex: Boomerang, chair or carousel
    At least one full rotation.
  4. Pole pumps x 3

With one or two hand on pole for support, the student is holding pole between lower legs from knees to ankles, with pole gripped between calf of front leg and shin of back leg (basic fireman position with body AWAY from pole) they must rise up and sit down and rise up again, etc.

  5. Basic climb
perfect form - one leg in front, one in back
no pulling with arms, no soles of feet on pole
no struggling to reach the top
must climb to top of pole twice in a row with good form (must climb 3 times at Chicago Heights)
  6. Basic sit - knees crossed
  7. Straight leg sit - both legs extended straight out
  8. Basic plank - no struggling to get into position.
  9. Basic Invert - clean controlled lift, no kick, no shoulder drop

Plus each student must perform a mini routine of their own design of at least 90 seconds which must include 2 aerial spins and 2 transitions with the rest being freestyle or fully choreographed.

Students may not progress to advanced if they cannot perform all of the above moves.

***You will be notified within 24 hours of your test results

Please note: Students must have their own approved* pole at home for practice and regular use once they reach the advanced level.

Additionally we strongly encourage students to purchase a pole crash mat for safe home practice.
Never practice moves alone for which you have not been cleared by your instructor!

*Unsafe poles such as Peekaboo, Carmen Electra and other brands are considered unsuitable for home practice at the advanced level.
